Italian finishing specialist takes first prize in private label category at Verona competition.

Cartes has won first prize in the private label category at the Vinitaly Design Award 2026, presented at the Teatro Ristori in Verona, for the Oro del Sol label produced in collaboration with Basile ADV.

Now in its 30th edition, the Vinitaly Design Award recognizes packaging as a strategic tool for brand positioning across wine, spirits, beer and olive oil products. The 2026 competition was promoted by Verona Fiere as part of Vinitaly.

The Oro del Sol label was produced on a GT368 modular platform, a 22-meter machine configured with eight units and more than 20 specialist devices, designed to automate premium label production in a single pass. The label uses two blank face stocks and combines tactile high-build screen printing, Braille, hot stamping, cast gold, embossing, label-on-label application, special coatings and lamination, perforation, laser engraving and the Jet D-Screen digital screen embellishment system, all in a single pass on both front and back sides, ready for bottle application.

The Jet D-Screen system creates multi-level effects up to 800 microns thick, 3D gold effects and metallic doming with variable data printing, without tooling.

‘The real revolution is not only technical,’ said Enrica Lodi, CMO of Cartes. ‘It is about bringing extreme creativity into industry and making it productive, scalable and sustainable, even for short runs. Today, printing is no longer just inking but transformation, added value and creative freedom.
